In a sentence... Satellite is a guaranteed predictable connection.
A wireless carrier such as Verizon, is a shared connection which means speeds are not predictable, and flow control is not reliably timed... both of which stop or drop a live video stream. Satellite's predictability assures a successful transmission every time. For most productions, loss of signal is not an option, and the use of satellite simply outweighs any savings over other methods.
LiveBeam provides a 1:1 unshared CIR (committed information rate) on a satellite connection to our network operations center (NOC) connected on the Internet backbone. Since these connections are not shared, speeds are highly predictable for video transmission.

Our services are net-neutral and you may use any port for your CDN connection anywhere on the Internet.
Many broadcasts can transmit both a low resolution and high resolution stream for over the satellite link at the same time to offer a selection for an online audience. LiveBeam offers a simple embedded video player if you wish to use our CDN that can take advantage of simulcasts.
To activate the service, call us before an event, and we will activate the service for your satellite connection for the times you require. It's that simple.
An inexpensive monthly service plan with your satellite system is required so that you may point the dish and get online at anytime to test the connection. The monthly service is not a 1:1 CIR, so the costs are much less, starting at $215 a month for a 64 x 64 Kbps unlimited plan.
